I’m Brian McNamee, founder and CEO of B. McNamee Consulting. I started this practice because I love supporting other leaders and organizations by being the person who is able to bring strategy, critical thinking, process improvements, leadership support and training. I like talking shop about how businesses are set up, and what they are doing to achieve their objectives.
Prior to launching this venture, I had been a noteworthy leader in the nonprofit and charter school spaces. I have developed and led strategic plans and initiatives. The organizations I have been associated with were always growing organizations, and in my experience I have grown finance, HR, business operations, and facilities teams. My experience includes complying with various government agencies and funders; developing HR policies and practices, compensation plans, and performance management frameworks; managing budgets of up to $12 million, while developing organization cultures to be fluent in fiscal management. I’ve led organizations through facilities planning which included leading capital improvement projects, financing, and ultimately purchasing commercial real estate. I played a major part in Academy of Hope’s transition to a charter school, as well as the incorporation of Academy of Hope Foundation.
I hold an MBA from the University of Maryland, and BS in International Business from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In early 2020, I culminated my HR expertise and earned my Senior Certified Professional credential through the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM-SCP). I currently serve as Board Treasurer for DC Wildflower PCS. Like many experienced leaders, I have been through many professional development programs - two of note is being part of Seeding Disruption held by the Equity Lab, and the Art of Leadership program held by the Rockwood Institute. Both of these programs have taught me compassion and skills for being committed to social and racial justice in both my professional and personal life.
I’m a native of Pittsburgh, but have been a proud DC resident since 2004. These days my husband, dog, and I can be found retreating to Shenandoah Valley where we are enjoying nature as well as lending our DIY home improvement skills to our cabin.
